Chaos at Bhubaneswar AIIMS Over Patient Death, Doctor Attacked
Bhubaneswar: Tensions flared at AIIMS Bhubaneswar today after the death of a patient led to violence on the hospital premises. Doctors and hospital staff were allegedly assaulted by the deceased’s family members and villagers.
The deceased has been identified as Shivashankar Behera from Janla, Ogala Pada.
As per reports, he was admitted to AIIMS in a critical condition after consuming poison. He died this morning.
Following his death, family members and locals alleged medical negligence, claiming that Shivashankar was given a wrong injection which led to his death.
Agitated relatives attacked doctors and hospital authorities, turning the hospital premises into a scene of chaos.
On receiving information, Khandagiri Police reached AIIMS Hospital, brought the agitated crowd under control, and took several people to the police station.
Police have also examined CCTV footage from the hospital. The Khandagiri Police Station Officer-in-Charge said that action will be taken as per law after investigation.
