Chardham Yatra 2023: 12 passengers from Himachal Pradesh cheated in the name of Kedarnath helicopter ticket booking
Dehradun (IANS) | With the commencement of the Chardham Yatra, gangs cheating people have also become active. Till now many devotees have become victims of fraud. This time, in the name of Kedarnath helicopter ticket booking, a case of cheating has come to light from 12 passengers from Himachal Pradesh. The accused are said to be absconding. The duped passengers also made mobile calls to the accused, but none of their calls were received. After this, the aggrieved party reached Guptkashi police station and narrated the incident. A person has cheated 12 passengers from Himachal Pradesh for Kedarnath Yatra in the name of helicopter tickets of Rs 92,880.
Helicopter tickets were sent by the accused to the passengers on WhatsApp, which have been found to be fake during investigation. On the complaint of the aggrieved party, the police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation. On May 30, Varun Sood’s son Swaroop Kishan Sood from Himachal Pradesh had reached Guptkashi with his companions to visit Baba Kedar. After reaching here, he searched online for helicopter e-ticket booking to go to Kedarnath for last Thursday and found a mobile number. On calling this number, the person receiving the call told him that he is an agent of Pawan Hans Heli Company and is booking passengers’ tickets on phone calls for the travel period.
On this, Varun and his associates talked to him about providing 12 helicopter tickets. After a brief conversation, he agreed to book the ticket. The passengers transferred Rs 92,880 to the account number given by the passengers under online payment for 12 tickets. Within a short time, 12 tickets also became available on Varun’s WhatsApp.
After this, he reached the ticket counter of Pawan Hans after taking the print of the ticket and found that all these tickets were fake. The duped passengers also made mobile calls to the accused, but none of their calls were received. After this, the aggrieved party reached Guptkashi police station and narrated the incident.
Police has registered a case. Simultaneously, investigation has been started by putting the mobile number on surveillance. Here, Superintendent of Police Dr. Visakha Ashok Bhadane has asked to book tickets only from the website authorized by the state government. In this journey, this is the second case registered in the case of cheating passengers in the name of helicopter tickets. Earlier, the police had arrested one of the accused.
