Charges framed against Atiq Ahmed in case of assault on businessman
Lucknow (IANS)| A CBI court on Friday framed charges against gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his son Umar in a case of kidnapping and assault of a businessman in Deoria Jail. Atiq Deoria was in jail then. Charges have been framed under various sections of the IPC. Atiq was produced in the court through video conferencing. Atiq had allegedly assaulted Mohit Jaiswal, a Lucknow-based businessman, in the Deoria Jail where he was abducted and kept in December 2018.
The businessman had claimed that Ateeq Ahmed forced him to sign over a property worth Rs 40 crore.
In his police complaint, Mohit Jaiswal alleged that Ateeq Ahmed, his son Umar and around 15 others forcibly took away their SUV, in which they were taken from the state capital to Deoria.
Police booked Atiq, his son Umar and others on various charges, including attempt to murder, after Jaiswal lodged a complaint at Lucknow’s Krishna Nagar police station.
