Cheap politics in the name of spirituality: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s accusation.

Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin accused opposition parties of engaging in cheap politics in the name of spirituality to obstruct the development of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking at a government welfare scheme assistance distribution ceremony in Madurai on Sunday, he further stated:

The real development in Madurai happened only during DMK rule, just as Kannagi raised her voice for justice against a hasty and unjust verdict delivered without proper investigation, and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi embarked on his long journey for justice regarding the curtain issue at the Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple.

The evidence for this is the major schemes implemented for Madurai during the previous DMK regime and the ₹6,000 crore worth of development projects implemented in the last four and a half years of our rule.

In the last four and a half years, several progressive pilot projects have been implemented in Tamil Nadu, attracting global attention. The sole focus of the DMK government is the development and progress of Tamil Nadu. But some parties always have a riotous mindset. They want to create unnecessary problems and obstruct our development.

In Tiruparankundram, according to the age-old tradition, the Bala Deepam was lit at 6 PM on the 3rd day (Deepa Karthigai) at the temple. Following this, the Deepam was also lit at the Uchchipillaiyar Temple Deepam Mandapam, and all the usual pujas were performed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. Yet, why is there a problem now? What is the motive of those creating these problems? The people know all this very well.

Spirituality provides peace of mind and tranquility, enabling people to live in unity and do good deeds. Conspiracies that sow discord and divide society for the political gain of a few are not spirituality; they are cheap politics carried out in the name of spirituality.

The practice of lighting the lamp in Tiruparankundram was properly followed. In the 1,490 days since the DMK government came to power, more than 3,000 temples have been consecrated. Therefore, what is the intention of those who call this government an enemy of spirituality? True devotees know. Tamil Nadu will always remain a peaceful state that celebrates virtues. Thanks and appreciation to the people of Madurai who stand for peace. No force can sow discord in this land; it cannot stop the development of Madurai.

Even though the central government announced the construction of an AIIMS hospital in Madurai 10 years ago, the hospital has not yet been built. The central government tried to stop the Keezhadi excavations, which reveal the historical past of the Tamils. Currently, due to their hatred towards Tamils, the central government is not releasing the Keezhadi excavation report.

The Tamil Nadu government has built a world-class hockey stadium in Madurai and is hosting the Junior World Cup Hockey tournament. But the central government is only funding BJP-ruled states like Gujarat. The Tamil Nadu government is holding an industrial investors’ conference in Madurai to promote employment and industrial development. But the central government is telling the youth to sell pakoras (fritters).

The central government has rejected the Madurai Metro Rail project citing absurd reasons. When questioned about this, some BJP leaders dismissed it by saying that Madurai does not need a metro rail project. However, in states like Patna, Agra, and Indore, where the BJP and its alliance partners are in power, metro projects have been implemented without considering the guidelines.

No matter how many obstacles the central government (from Delhi) creates, how many financial crises it engineers, how many hurdles it puts up through the Governor, Tamil Nadu has overcome everything and emerged as a leading state in India with unprecedented economic growth. Unable to accept this development, they are hatching conspiracies. Tamil Nadu will thwart all conspiracies. No matter how many teams like ‘B’ team and ‘C’ team are formed, we are the ones who will win the championship title in Tamil Nadu.
