Chennai One app launches travel cards of Rs 1000 and Rs 2000: Minister S.C. Sivasakhand

Tamil Nadu: Transport Minister S.C. Sivasan on Thursday launched the facility for Chennai city bus passengers to obtain ₹1,000 and ₹2,000 bus cards on the Chennai One app.

The Chennai One app was launched to enhance the convenience of Chennai city bus passengers and promote cashless transactions. A large number of passengers are downloading and using the app. The sole process for passengers to travel on the app was purchasing tickets.

Currently, the Chennai City Transport Corporation has launched the facility to download a ₹1,000 Gold card and a ₹2,000 Diamond concession bus card on the Chennai One app, which passengers receive after waiting in long queues every month. The Gold card is valid on all non-air-conditioned buses, while the Diamond card is valid on all buses, including air-conditioned buses.

The inauguration ceremony for this project took place on Thursday at the Pallavan Ella complex in Chennai. Power and Transport Minister S.C. Sivasan attended the meeting chaired by Manka Transport Corporation President Prabhu Shankar and inaugurated the project.

Later, he presented certificates and medals of appreciation to employees who received the National Award for the city with the best public transport system in the country, and also launched a campaign vehicle.

How to get and use the card through the app:

You must enter the ‘Chennai One App’ and select ‘City Bus Pass’. Then, go to the ‘Buy Bus Pass’ feature. You can choose a card type of ₹1,000 or ₹2,000. Next, go to the ‘Pay Fee Through UPI’ feature and, after paying the fee, you will receive a digital travel ticket.

After downloading the ticket, passengers must show the electronic ticket to the bus conductor. Passengers should also ensure that the time on their mobile phone is correct. The conductor will verify the name, validity date, time, and other details on the ticket.

They will then scan all e-tickets shown by passengers or record the corresponding number and issue a receipt. This will be valid for a period of 30 days from the date printed on the ticket. Bus operators and officials have also been instructed to spread the word about this new digital method among those who receive ₹1,000 and ₹2,000 tickets.
