Chennai: Political rhetoric intensifies, M.K. Stalin’s statement on Thaveka government

Tamil Nadu: Amidst the ongoing political turmoil over government formation in Tamil Nadu, DMK leader and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has made a significant statement. He stated that the DMK will not create any obstacles to the formation of the Vijayawada-led Thaveka government. Stalin’s statement is being considered significant in the current political situation in the state.

Stalin clearly stated that the DMK does not want any constitutional crisis or re-elections to occur in the state. He said that the new government should prioritize the state’s development and public welfare programs. He also stated that the schemes initiated during the DMK government’s tenure should be continued.

In his statement, he also referred to the DMK’s election manifesto and said that it is important to fulfill promises made to the public, regardless of which government is in power. Stalin also said that social schemes such as the breakfast program for students in government schools and the stipend program for female artists should not be discontinued.

During this, he also commented on the Thaveka Party’s election promises. Specifically, regarding the promise of providing ₹2,500 to women, he said that fulfilling it would not be easy. He suggested that at least ₹1,000 should be provided, as was done in previous schemes.

Political analysts believe that while Stalin’s statement reflects a cooperative stance, it also indirectly exerts pressure on the new government’s policies. Following the recent assembly elections in the state, no party secured an absolute majority, and the process of government formation is still ongoing.

The Thaveka Party consolidated its position by emerging as the largest party with 108 seats, while the DMK had to settle for 73. Consequently, the strategies and rhetoric of both major parties could determine the future course of state politics.

After Stalin’s statement, discussions have intensified in the political circles and everyone’s eyes are now fixed on the formation of the new government and its first decisions.
