Chief Minister announces Rs 2 crore to Pramod Bhagat for winning 3 medals in Asian Para Games
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a cash award of Rs 2 crore to Odisha’s Pramod Bhagat for his excellent performance in the Para Asian Games. Bhagat has won the gold medal in Para Badminton Men’s Singles SL3 event in the ongoing Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China today. He won the gold medal after a hard-fought victory against his counterpart Nitish Kumar. The gold medal is in addition to the reigning Paralympic champion’s already impressive feat in the competition, which includes two bronze medals in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 and mixed doubles SL3-SU5 events respectively. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Pramod is one of the finest competitors and an example of determination, and I would like to heartily congratulate him. I am sure he will continue to make us proud at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The Chief Minister has assured all possible support to Pramod Bhagat before the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. After the win, Pramod Bhagat expressed his gratitude for the support he has received in his journey and said that the Asian Para Games will be good for his preparation for Paris. He said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude for the tremendous support I have received, especially from the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik. At the Asian Para Games, I proudly won three medals in three events, including one gold and two bronze. This victory serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for my journey towards the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
