Chief Minister extended greetings on International Press Freedom Day

Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has extended greetings and best wishes to media institutions, representatives and journalists on the occasion of International Press Freedom Day, 3rd May. He said that media has been considered as the fourth pillar of democracy. International Press Freedom Day is celebrated all over the world to strengthen this pillar, to ensure the respect, freedom and security of journalism. Freedom of the press is included in the fundamental rights in the Indian constitution as freedom of expression. Mr. Baghel said that in today’s global era, with the increasing importance of media institutions, challenges have also increased for them. The Government of Chhattisgarh is determined for the safety and freedom of journalists. Several steps have been taken to help media representatives in the state. Chhattisgarh is the first state where initiative has been taken to enact a law to protect journalists.
