Chinese nurse suspended after boyfriend helps write patients’ medical reports
A nurse working at a hospital in China has been suspended after social media images of her boyfriend helping her with patient medical reports surfaced, hospital authorities confirmed. In the pictures, which went viral, the man is seen holding clinical records in his hand, even though he lacked any medical training or certification.
The hospital conducted an internal review and found out that the boyfriend was involved in the preparation or editing of patient reports to the point that there were great concerns about the accuracy of data, patient privacy, and professionalism. Licensed health professionals should fill out the medical documentation, and the involvement of an unqualified individual is a violation of the standard procedure.
The hospital, in turn, has suspended the nurse awaiting additional investigation and started auditing the patient records in question to ascertain whether it is possible that patient care was compromised.
