Chips packet horror continues in Odisha as six-year-old boy dies after swallowing balloon

Khurda: Chips packet horror in Odisha continues as another six-year-old boy died allegedly after swallowing the balloon that he got from the snacks packet.
One Abhaya Paikaray of Nidhipur village in Begunia Tehsil of Khurda district reportedly bought a chips packet for his minor son, Tapas Kumar, yesterday.
After enjoying chips, Tapas was blowing the balloon, that he got from the chips packet, with the use of his mouth but unfortunately he swallowed it which subsequently it got stuck on his food pipe.
As Tapas began to have breathing problems, his parents with the help of the villagers rushed him to the nearest hospital for treatment. Later, they shifted him to the Khurda District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) as his condition deteriorated, however, doctor of the DHH declared the minor boy dead.
The heart-wrenching incident has sent shock waves in village and has become a talk of the town in the locality.
While an eight-year-old boy in Sagadaghat village under Titilagarh police limits of Balangir district lost sight in one eye after a toy found inside a snack packet allegedly exploded on Monday, a four-year-old boy died after swallowing toy in chips packet at Musimaha village in Kandhamal November 2025.
