Chitrakoot seat, Congress MP now ready to take hat-trick of MLA
Raipur. Chitrakoot in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh is known as Mini Niagara in the country. These days, this area is in the news. Congress state president and MP Deepak Baij is contesting from here and he is preparing to score a hat-trick of victory in the assembly elections. Chitrakoot assembly constituency is the area where there is a waterfall and that is why this area is also called Mini Niagra.
Not only this, mythological stories are also associated with this area. Lord Rama is said to have passed through this area during his exile. Two places here have been included in the Ram Gaman Path scheme.
Talking about Chitrakoot Assembly, Congress’s Deepak Baij was successful in winning the 2013 and 2018 assembly elections and later the party fielded him in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in which he was successful. Now the party has made him contest the assembly elections. On this seat reserved for Scheduled Tribes, Deepak Baij is contesting against Vinayak Goyal, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate.
Four assembly elections have been held in this assembly constituency since the formation of the state. BJP won the first two elections and then Deepak Baij was successful in the next two assembly elections.
This is the third time that Baij is contesting the elections and this time he is preparing to score a hat-trick by winning. On one hand, Congress is trying its best to win, while on the other hand, BJP is also leaving no stone unturned. BJP has also won in this assembly constituency earlier. The contest is interesting and both the teams are not lagging behind in exerting their efforts.
Political analysts believe that Chitrakoot assembly constituency is important for both the major parties — Congress and BJP. While Congress wants to register victory from this area so that Deepak Baij can score a hat-trick, BJP is trying to demolish this area which has become a stronghold of Congress.
