Indian Olympic Association president and veteran athlete PT Usha reached Jantar Mantar on Wednesday morning to meet the protesting wrestlers. PT Usha had given a statement some time ago that the players sitting on strike are undisciplined and tarnishing the image of the country. The President of Wrestling Federation of India went and talked to Vinesh Phogat and Sangeet Phogat. The wrestlers who were protesting were very angry with PT Usha’s statement. From Sakshi Malik to Vinesh Phogat had expressed displeasure against PT Usha.
The Olympic Association had also formed a committee to investigate the matter, which included boxer Mary Kom and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt. However, the investigation report of this committee is also not in front. When Usha was questioned about this, she said, ‘It is indiscipline for wrestlers to perform on the streets and it is tarnishing the image of the country. They should have come to us first. After listening to PT Usha’s statement, Bajrang said, ‘She herself is a woman but still did not understand the pain of the players. Very sad to hear this. We have waited three months. We went to them too, yet justice was not done to us and we had to come here.”
