Cleanliness work in Tiruvannamalai: Former minister E.V. Velu observed

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J. C. D. Prabhakar has stated that a decision on the AIADMK whip issue will be taken at an appropriate time. He made this statement while speaking to reporters after meeting people on Avvai Shanmugam Road in Chennai’s Thousand Lights constituency. The Speaker interacted with local residents and thanked them for their support during the election.
He stated that many families living in the narrow streets of the Thousand Lights area have lived there for four to five generations. He explained that when he visited the area as a candidate during his election campaign, local residents complained that many candidates come, take votes, and leave, but pay no attention to the area’s problems. He stated that he had promised the people at that time that after winning the election, he would first visit Avvai Shanmugam Road and meet the people.
The Speaker stated that he had come to the area to fulfill that promise. He also stated that he has instructed the relevant officials to improve the condition of the area and address local infrastructure problems. He urged them to address issues related to cleanliness, road improvements, and civic amenities in the area. Local residents also expressed their concerns and demanded solutions to long-standing issues in the area.
Meanwhile, E. V. Velu inspected the ongoing cleanliness drive in Tiruvannamalai on Sunday under the Swachh Arunai Project. This project has been running in Tiruvannamalai for the past seven years, organized by former Minister E. V. Velu. Under this project, tree plantation, plant care, canal cleaning, and drainage system improvement are being continuously carried out in the city.
During the inspection, E. V. Velu advised to further accelerate the tree care work. He instructed the concerned teams to regularly monitor the planted trees to make the greenery campaign more effective. During this time, it was also reported that improvements to approximately 20 ponds on the Girivalam Road, in collaboration with the district administration, were ongoing.
The Clean Arunai organization and the Arunai Medical College Hospital are also organizing monthly baby shower programs for pregnant women. The initiative aims to raise social awareness and strengthen local health services. The former minister also visited various locations in the city in the morning to inspect cleanliness drives and the condition of plants.
While the two leaders discussed political and local development issues in Chennai, they also reviewed environmental and sanitation work in Tiruvannamalai. Both activities saw the participation of the local administration and citizens.
