CM Dhami ordered an inquiry into the death of 15 people due to transformer explosion
Chamoli. Fifteen people died and many were injured when a transformer exploded on the banks of the Alaknanda river in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. According to SP Chamoli Parmendra Doval, the injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident. “While expressing my deepest condolences to the bereaved families, I wish speedy recovery to all the injured. The local administration, under the supervision of the state government, is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims,” he said.
In light of the tragic incident, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami told reporters, “Magisterial inquiry has been ordered. Helicopters are also being used to shift the injured to various medical centers for treatment.”
Following directions given by Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, District Magistrate Chamoli Himanshu Khurana ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Chamoli incident.
According to Uttarakhand’s Additional Director General of Police, V Murugesan, “Around 15 people including a police sub-inspector and five home guards have died. Investigation is on. Prima facie it is found that there was electrocution on the railing and investigation will reveal further detail.”
It has been reported that many people are feared to have died due to electrocution at the Namami Gange project site in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand.
Police and rescue teams have reached the spot and have started relief work.
