CM inaugurates Emmanuvel Sekaran Manimandapam in Paramakudi

Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a newly constructed statue of martyr Emanuel Sekaran in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram district, at a cost of ₹3 crore.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had previously announced that a memorial hall for freedom fighter Emanuel Sekaran would be built in Paramakudi. A site was selected at the Paramakudi Municipality Weekly Market Complex and ₹3 crore was allocated.

Following the completion of these works, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin arrived in Paramakudi from Madurai to inaugurate the Manimandapam. He was welcomed in the Maruchukatti area on the border of Ramanathapuram district. Later, people gathered on both sides of all the main roads in Parthipanur, Tellichathanallur, Kattu Paramakudi, and Paramakudi to enthusiastically welcome the Chief Minister.

Following this, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin arrived at the Manimandapam Complex at around 1:40 pm on Saturday. There, he unveiled the bronze statue of martyr Emmanuel Sekarnar and paid tribute by showering flowers. Following this, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Manimandapam and watched a short film on Emmanuel Sekarnar.

Ministers R.S. Rajakannappan, K.N. Nehru, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, K.R. Periyakaruppan, Thangam Thennarasu, M.P. Saminathan, Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha member Nawaz Kani, District Collector Simranjit Singh Kallon, MLAs Kathapadas Muthuramalingam, Murugesan, Tamilarasi, Emmanuel Sekaran, and family members attended the event.

Public Argument with Police:

Heavy police security was deployed in the area for the Manimandapam inauguration ceremony. Furthermore, everyone, including the public, was barred from entering the Manimandapam area for security reasons.

This led to a heated exchange between members of some organizations and the public with the police.

After the Chief Minister inaugurated the Manimandapam and left, the public was allowed inside. Following this, members of various community organizations, including members of the Manimandapam, garlanded the statue of Emmanuel Sekaran and paid their respects. Later, they also visited the Manimandapam.

The police initially prevented members of the New Tamil Nadu Party, who had come to the event, from entering the Manimandapam. Consequently, they left the area shouting slogans.

Other parties joined the DMK…

A program was held in Paramakudi Ulaganathapuram for other parties joining the DMK. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin attended the event. At that time, 53 members from that party, the BJP, and other parties, including Rameswaram City AIADMK leader Pichai, joined the DMK in the Chief Minister’s presence. They paid tribute to Chief Minister M.K. A group photo was taken with Stalin.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin then left for Madurai by car.
