Colwell Road Rage: Woman assaulted, three absconding accused arrested
Mapusa: In a disturbing incident, a 24-year-old woman was attacked by three men near Ram Mandir, Colwell following a road rage confrontation. Police sources said the Alto car crossed the path of the scooter, leading to an altercation between the car driver Devendra Tembar, aged 25, and the girl and her boyfriend, who were sitting on the pillion seat.
He called his friend Pankaj Sadekar r/o Ram Nagar Colvale who came with scooter GA 03 AL 4846 and called another unknown accused and started abusing the complainant girl and her boyfriend and then hit the complainant on the forehead and Attacked the lover’s left side. They punched him on the forehead, threatened him with dire consequences and ran away.
The woman, who worked as a pharmacist, was medically examined at North Goa District Hospital and discharged after treatment for her injuries. After this he lodged a complaint at Colvale Police Station.
Colwell police took prompt action, identified their mobile numbers and arrested three accused. One accused was arrested at 2.30 am on Monday and the others were arrested later. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the accused persons. The accused have been identified as Pankaj Salgaonkar of Colvale, Pankar Sadekar and Deven Temkar of Tivim.
The accused have been booked under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (misbehavior), 506 (2) (threatening dire consequences), 354 (outraging modesty), 509 (use of obscene words), 307 (attempt to murder). And has been arrested under. 324 (attack). The car has been confiscated by the police.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Kunal Naik under the supervision of PI Vijay Rane and overall supervision of SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
