COMEDK UGET entrance exam will be held on May 12
Bengaluru: The Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) for admission to engineering courses in over 150 private engineering colleges, conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK), will be held on May 12.
Registration for the trial has started from February 1. The trial will be conducted at 400 centers in more than 200 cities across the country. COMEDK expects around 1 lakh candidates to appear for the exam. The test scores will also be considered for admission to over 50 private and deemed institutions and Uni-Gage member-universities offering BE/B.Tech programmes.
Addressing a press conference, COMEDK Executive Secretary Dr S Kumar said, “There is no dress code for the exam, but to prevent impersonation we have banned candidates from wearing any kind of clothing covering their face Have given.”
This year, six more COMEDK KARES centers will be set up. Six to seven mock tests will be conducted for those registering for COMEDK UGET, Kumar said.
lots of exams
With the announcement of COMEDK and KCET dates and even the release of entrance exam dates by some private universities, aspirants seeking professional course seats will have to take a lot of exams. KCET is taking place on 18th, 19th April.
Although an attempt was made by the then Higher Education Minister Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan to make KCET the sole entrance examination for admission to engineering courses, many private institutions and private and deemed universities did not agree with it.
“The entrance test is being conducted as per the judgment of the 11-judge bench in the TMA Pai case,” Dr Kumar said.
Responding to a question on why COMEDK has kept some low-performing colleges in the admission list, Kumar said, COMEDK is not a marketing agency. “Students are well informed and can verify everything through the website before choosing a college,” Kumar said.
