Congress leader VD Satheesan targets Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan
Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and Congress leader VD Satheesan on Monday targeted Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over his stand on the black flag protests.
Satheesan said, ‘On one hand, the CM is supporting the black flag protest of SFI (Students Federation of India) workers and on the other hand, the CM considers the same black flag protest by Youth Congress workers as an attack.’
Earlier, SFI (Students Federation of India), the student wing of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist), took out a protest march with black flags to Calicut University ahead of the Governor’s arrival on the campus. Black banners and posters were put up outside the Calicut University Guest House, where the Governor was staying.
Satheesan accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of justifying the protest by the SFI against the Governor.
“The Chief Minister’s stand on the black flag protests is double standards. On one hand, the Chief Minister is supporting the black flag protest by SFI workers, while on the other hand, the Chief Minister considers the same black flag protest by Youth Congress workers as an attack. Now Satheesan said, he is justifying the protest by SFI against the Governor and asking why he came out of his car.
Further, Satheesan alleged, “It is a Sangh Parivar leader who is giving the list of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) people for universities to the Governor and this Sangh Parivar leader was appointed to the Raj Bhavan when There were good relations between the CM and the Governor.”
After facing a black flag protest by members of SFI, the student wing of the ruling CPI(M), the Governor claimed an attempt on his life.
However, on instructions from the Governor’s office, the police removed the protesters from the spot.
