Congress To Team Up With TVK If Alliance With DMK Not Possible

With the Assembly Elections soon to be held, there has been a stir in Tamil Nadu. The parties are busy strategizing. They are working hard on alliances and alliances. In this context, preliminary discussions have started between the ruling DMK and the Congress Party on seat sharing. As the Election Commission is likely to announce the schedule at any moment, the two parties are already holding discussions on seat sharing.
AICC Tamil Nadu in-charge Girish Chodankar, TNCC chief Selvaperunthagai, and AICC co-in-charge Nivedita Alva reached the DMK state office. They started discussions with a panel led by DMK senior leader TR Balu. Meanwhile, the Congress party contested 25 seats in the 2021 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. This time, the party is demanding at least 35 seats and two Rajya Sabha seats. The DMK, however, is reportedly willing to offer 27 and 28 assembly seats and one Rajya Sabha seat.
If the DMK and Congress fail to reach a consensus on seat sharing, there are signs that new alliances may emerge in Tamil Nadu. Political analysts predict that the Congress party may join hands with actor Vijay’s TVK. Vijay’s party is also likely to join hands with the Congress. Although Vijay has not responded directly to this issue, his father SA Chandrasekhar has already given a hint.
Chandrasekhar said that Vijay is ready to bring back the glory of the Congress, but the decision is in the hands of the Congress party. Although the Congress leaders rejected this offer, political sources are of the opinion that if the alliance with the DMK fails, the idea of going with the TVK cannot be ruled out. If that happens, he said, the distance between the DMK and the Congress, who are long-time friends and partners in the India alliance, is likely to increase.
