Controversy over Kerala Film Awards demands probe by external agency
Thiruvananthapuram (IANS). The All India Youth Front (AIYF), the youth wing of the ruling Left Front government’s second largest ally, on Thursday urged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and state Culture Minister Saji Cherian to probe the controversy over the Kerala State Film Awards by an external agency. Get it done
Actually, director Vinayan had criticized director Ranjith in the past. Ranjith is currently the President of the Kerala State Film Academy. The Academy selects the State Film Awards. Director Vinayan had accused Ranjith of interfering in the decision of the jury while deciding the awards.
While complaining to the Chief Minister, AIYF has demanded an inquiry by an agency outside the academy.
Popular filmmaker Vinayan has also given an audio clip to the CM complaining that all was not well in the selection of winners.
Meanwhile, jury chairman Gautam Ghosh has denied any outside influence, claiming that the selection was free and fair. Based on his request, the Chief Minister has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
