Corporation served notice to 50 big defaulters, gave final ultimatum to deposit money
Raigarh. The tax defaulters of Raigarh Municipal Corporation have given sleepless nights to the Municipal Corporation officials. You will be surprised to know that the Municipal Corporation has to recover more than Rs 12 crore from consumers in the form of property tax, water tax and other taxes.
In such a situation, the Municipal Corporation is now preparing to tighten the noose on big defaulters. The Municipal Corporation has issued notices to 50 big defaulters in the city and given an ultimatum to deposit the outstanding amount within a fortnight. A warning has also been given to confiscate property if tax is not deposited. This action of the corporation has created panic among the defaulters.
Actually, Raigarh Municipal Corporation has to collect tax of Rs 27 crore by the end of March. In return for this, the Municipal Corporation has so far been able to collect only Rs 14 crore tax. The Municipal Corporation still has to recover Rs 7 crore as property tax, Rs 5 crore as water tax and Rs 3 crore as other taxes.
