Court sent shoe thief to jail
Jagdalpur: A strange incident of theft was witnessed in Jagdalpur. The special thing was that the shoe owner registered a case in the police station. Kotwali police also came into action and after scanning the CCTV, they continued investigating for 6 days. Eventually the thief was caught, but by then he had burnt the stolen shoes.
This entire incident happened on 29th of last month. A pair of branded shoes belonging to an officer of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Distribution Company in Dharampura area of Jagdalpur was stolen. The price was around Rs 2600. But the accused was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the house while stealing the shoe. It was seen in the CCTV footage that the accused picked up the shoe kept in the courtyard and ran away. The owner of the house came to know about this on the basis of CCTV footage. The victim went to the police station and filed a report of shoe theft. After this, the CCTV footage installed in the house was scrutinized. The thief was identified as Rohit Singh (21). The accused was a resident of Suncity area of the city. The police arrested the thief. Then it was revealed that he had burnt his shoes due to fear of being caught. The police took the accused to the crime scene. Where the shoes were found in half-burnt condition.
According to CSP Vikas Kumar, during interrogation, the thief told that he roamed throughout the day wearing stolen shoes. Then at night he burnt the shoes. Giving information about the case, the CSP said that out of fear, the accused burnt the shoes. At the same time, due to fear of being caught, the accused was also trying to run away. But the Kotwali police arrested the accused thief and produced him in the court, from where he was sent to jail.
