Crowd gathered in Maa Mankeshwari Devi temple
Raigarh. There is a tradition of Bali Puja in Maa Mankeshwari Devi temple on Sharad Purnima in village Karmagarh surrounded by mountains in Tamnar, a tribal dominated tehsil of Kelo Vananchal district. Here, dozens of goats are sacrificed to fulfill the wishes. Thousands of devotees seek their wishes by offering coconut flowers at the feet of Maa and Baiga.
The tradition of worshiping Mother Mankeshwari Devi, the goddess of the princely period, still continues in Karmagarh. Here, the family goddess Maa of the royal family is worshiped every year on the day of Sharad Purnima. This year also Sharad Purnima Mahotsav was celebrated here on Friday and Bal Puja was performed. It is believed that on this day the Goddess arrives in the body of Baiga.
Devotees coming here offer Ashtanga Pranam for his blessings. Many people run after him to touch him, whoever touches him considers himself blessed. Whoever touches Baiga during this time, his wish is fulfilled. Yesterday a large number of devotees reached here and bowed at the feet of Mata and Baiga and took blessings. In the program of Bali Puja, around 15 thousand people participated in the fair along with hundreds of dancers, Karma dance with Maander cymbals and night drama.
