CSR Excellence Award to Jindal Steel and Power
Raipur. Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), the country’s leading steel company led by renowned industrialist Naveen Jindal, has been honored with the CSR Excellence Award for its outstanding contribution in promoting sports in rural and tribal areas. This honor was presented to JSP by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, film actor Aamir Khan and Dr. Kumar Vishwas at an event organized by CSR Journal in Mumbai on 9 December. JSP’s CSR Group Head Prashant Kumar Hota received this prestigious honour.
Expressing gratitude to the jury for the CSR Excellence Award, Shalu Jindal, Chairperson, JSP Foundation, said, “We are dedicated to the development of over 25,000 rural and tribal sports talents of the country and by creating sports facilities for them- We are also trying to provide them world class training so that they can make the country proud in international competitions.
Under the visionary leadership of Chairman Naveen Jindal, Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) has played an important role in the development of sports in the rural and tribal areas of the country. JSP through its social arm, JSP Foundation has been playing a vital role in promoting sports with the aim of nurturing more than 25,000 talents in rural and tribal areas. This series of efforts also includes nurturing approximately 5,000 budding hockey talents from Sundergarh district of Odisha. Similarly, JSP is nurturing Wushu players in Keonjhar district and making arrangements for training for them. As a result, along with 5 international medals, these Wushu players have won a total of 643 medals so far. Similarly, Jindal Sports Hostel is being run in Soyabali of Keonjhar district for nurturing and training of 60 talents.
Support is being provided to the girls’ football team in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh and Patratu, Jharkhand and the girls’ hockey team in Sundergarh, Odisha. So far 2000 players have benefited from OP Jindal Cricket Academy in Chhattisgarh. The company has recently provided many international level facilities including badminton court, basketball court, modern gymnasium, multi-purpose room and pavilion at Raigarh Stadium in Chhattisgarh.
