Dacoit killed in police encounter, had network in these states too
Purnia: Dacoit Sushil Mochi was killed in an encounter with police and STF team at Tarabari Ghat in Amaur police station area of Purnia district of Bihar. His network was spread to West Bengal and Jharkhand including Purnia, Kishanganj.
A police officer said on Saturday that late Friday night, the police had received information that dreaded dacoit Sushil Mochi was in the Bahiyar at Tarabari Ghat with his companions and was preparing to carry out a major incident. After this, the STF team and Angad, Amaur police station police reached the spot. On seeing the police team, the dacoits started firing. The police also retaliated in self-defense.
It was told that firing continued from both sides intermittently for about 10 minutes. After this, the police launched a search operation where a body was recovered from a maize field. The body was identified as dacoit Sushil Mochi. He was a resident of Angad police station. Bihar Police had announced a reward of Rs 1.50 lakh on him.
On receiving the information about the incident, Purnia SP Kartikeya Sharma, DIG Pramod Kumar Mandal reached the spot and inquired about the incident. The FSL team from Purnia reached the spot and collected all the evidence. After which the body has been sent to Purnia for post-mortem.
SP Kartikeya Sharma said that Sushil Mochi who was killed was a notorious criminal. He used to carry out incidents in Purnia, Kishanganj and Katihar including West Bengal. He used to maintain his team in all the areas and used to lead them himself. He mainly used to carry out robbery incidents. He said that there is news of many people escaping in the incident. Carbine and country-made pistol have been recovered from near the body.
