Dadra Nagar Haveli Administration hoists the flag on the occasion of 75th Republic Day and 5th Merger Day

Selvas: Our country is celebrating its 75th Republic Day today. So, along with the Republic Day, it is also the day of merger of Union Territory Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu. In the year 2020, on January 26, two different union territories were merged. Accordingly, every year on 26 January, Merger Day is celebrated along with Republic Day.

Flag hoisting and parade salute: On the occasion of the 75th Republic Day of the country and the 5th merger day of the Union Territory, a flag hoisting and cultural program was organized by the Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu administration of the Union Territory at Sally Cricket Ground. In which the flag was hoisted by administrator Praful Patel. This was followed by a parade presented by police personnel, Indian Reserve Battalion, fire department, home guards and NCC cadets.

Best wishes: Administrator Praful Patel in his address while wishing all the people of the region said that on the 75th Republic Day of India, we have gathered to celebrate the rich heritage and culture of our great nation. This day marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950. In which India was declared a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.

Philosophy of unity in diversity: On this day, two union territories of the country, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu, were united. This day has been recorded in the pages of history. People of different ideas, sects and religions live in this area. He has set an example of unity in diversity. It has given a new identity to the country by taking the region on the path of development. The development activities of the Education Department and Public Works Department were especially highlighted.

Dignitaries from both the Union Territories were present: On this occasion, various cultural works were presented by the children of Balabhavan Centre. The winners and NCC cadets of Police Department and Indian Reserve Battalion were honored with prizes. Certificates were distributed to the students under the Aapda Mitra training given by the Disaster Department. On this occasion, Daman Mandal MP Lalubhai Patel, District Panchayat President Damji Kurada, Municipal President Rajni Shetty, former MP Sitaram Gawli, administration officials, tenured teachers, students were present.
