DCA seizes fake anti-cancer drugs worth Rs 4.35 crore
Hyderabad: Drug inspectors of the Drug Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, on Tuesday announced the arrest of a huge quantity of suspected or counterfeit anti-cancer drugs worth Rs. According to TSDCA Director General (DG) VB Kamalasan Reddy, Rs 4,35 million from an unlicensed warehouse managed by the company Estrica Healthcare in Macha Bolarum. Director General of DCA recognized the infiltration of fake anti-cancer drugs as a major development and the biggest infiltration in the state of Telangana. The raid on the unlicensed warehouse facilities was conducted on Monday 4 December by DCA officials, including Deputy Directors, P. Ramu and V. Balanganjan, and Drug Inspector, K. Muralikrishna, B. It was discovered that some of the listed medicines were counterfeit in nature, i.e., the labels contained data of a non-existent company, Astra Generics Pvt. Ltd. Ltd., whose license was canceled in July 2022 but the manufacturing date mentioned in the listed medicines was March 2023. The company name was cancelled. The medicines incorrectly listed contained the names of the following companies, including Astra Generics Pvt Ltd. Limited. Ltd., Telangana, Estrica Healthcare Pvt. Limited. Ltd., Median Biotech Pvt. Limited. Ltd., Himachal Pradesh, Alliance Biotech, Himachal Pradesh, Sunvet Healthcare, Himachal Pradesh, Celus Pharmaceuticals, Himachal Pradesh, DM Pharma Pvt. Limited. Ltd., Himachal Pradesh, Safe Parentals Pvt. Limited. Ltd., Andhra Pradesh, Bless Pharma India Pvt. Limited. Ltd., Telangana. Earlier, to get reliable information about the company Estrica Healthcare, Deputy Director, P. Ramu and Drug Inspectors, G. Srikanth, K. Anvesh, M. Chandrashekhar, V. Ajay and S. The redemption was done by a special team led by Vinay Sushmi. It was carried out at various places in the city on 2 December. DCA officials took the help of postal officials of Alwal to trace the location mentioned in the facts collected by DCA and after investigation it was found that it was a wrong address. Subsequently, the special team raided messaging offices used by the company Estrica Healthcare to send consignments of medicines. The DCA employees were divided into two teams and one team took over the messaging offices at IDA Cherlapally, Nacharam and Medchal and the other team took over the facilities of “Estrika Healthcare” at Keesara. DCA officers identified the courier who was delivering Estrica Healthcare’s stock of medicines and traced the location of the fake/counterfeit medicines, which were stored in three contraventanas in Macha Bolarum, a local unlicensed one. The main accused in the case, K.Sathish Reddy, director of Estrica Healthcare, is absconding and efforts are being made to trace him to take legal action.
