Deadly attack on watchman, case registered

Raigarh. The Additional Sessions Court has punished three accused, who attacked a crusher watchman with a rod and stole a mobile phone and battery, with seven years of rigorous imprisonment each and a fine. According to the prosecution, the case in brief is as follows that Himanshu Aggarwal, resident of Kharsia, has a crusher in Bakeli in which Purushottam Bhardwaj, resident of Saliyabhantha of Korba district, works as a watchman. On July 29, 2022, he was in the crusher. Meanwhile, at around 12:30 in the night, Purushottam’s father Bhagwat Lal called and informed that Purushottam’s condition was very serious and he was bleeding from his body. Based on this information, Himanshu Agarwal along with his father Ashok Agarwal reached the spot where Purushottam was lying unconscious. During this time, on interrogating him, he told that between 11 to 11:30 in the night, Anil Yadav, Bhushan Sidar, Pushpendra of Bakeli village came to Kershar for the purpose of robbery and together they attacked him on the head with an iron rod. Besides, other parts of his body were also injured.

All three together picked up the watchman and threw him in a nearby drain and then ran away with the mobile phone and tractor battery. After that, Purushottam was admitted to Kharsia Hospital and a report was lodged against the accused in Kharsia police station. Kharsia police registered a crime against the three accused under sections 307, 394, 34 and arrested all three accused and presented them in the court from where they were sent to jail. After completing all the formalities of investigation, the case was presented in the court where after the procurement order, the case was submitted to the Sessions Court for trial on 13 October 2022. Where the learned Judge of the Sessions Court, Jitendra Kumar Thakur, after hearing both the parties in this case, found all the accused guilty under Section 307, 34 and Section 394, 34 and sentenced them to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one thousand rupees each. Have been punished with. In the order, a provision has been made for both the sentences to run concurrently and for the accused to have to pay additional imprisonment of one month if they do not pay the fine. In this case, Additional Public Prosecutor Vimla Mahant argued on behalf of the prosecution.
