The government has decided to build the new Delhi Secretariat in the ITO area, utilizing approximately 10 acres of land. Currently, many Delhi government departments operate from scattered locations, often leading to coordination challenges among officials and staff. In light of this, the government aims to construct a modern secretariat building that houses the offices of all key departments under one roof.
According to reports, the Delhi government plans to acquire about five acres of land belonging to the Income Tax Department in the ITO area. In exchange, land near the PWD headquarters will be provided to the Income Tax Department. Following this land swap, the Delhi government will have a substantial 10-acre plot available for the construction of the secretariat.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is currently formulating the plan, working on the design, amenities, and construction aspects of the new secretariat. The proposed building is envisioned to be equipped with modern facilities to enhance the efficiency and convenience of government operations.
The new secretariat aims to bring together offices from various Delhi government departments, providing space for ministries, administrative units, and other crucial departments.
