New Delhi (IANS). Delhi Police has arrested a 42-year-old criminal, who was out on parole and wanted in another case, from Sonepat in Haryana. An official gave this information on Friday.
The accused has been identified as Anil Kumar Sharma alias Pandit, a resident of Nirmal Vihar in Najafgarh area.
The official said Sharma was sentenced to life imprisonment in a 2011 murder case. After getting bail in 2020, he did not surrender to the jail authorities and kept on changing his whereabouts frequently.
“He was also involved in two other criminal cases including attempt to murder and Arms Act registered in Delhi,” the officer said.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said that secret information was received that fugitive criminal Sharma is hiding in Kharkhoda area of Sonipat, Haryana.
“His hideout was traced. Then a trap was laid and Sharma was nabbed from Kharkhoda in Sonepat,” said the Special CP.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the person whom he had killed in 2011 was his partner in ‘Satta’ racket in Najafgarh area.
“Sharma was demanding from the deceased (Deepak) his commission amount of around Rs 10 lakh. On July 14, 2011, both of them were drinking together at Vardhman Plaza, Dwarka, where an altercation took place between them and the accused, in an inebriated state, fired at the deceased and fled from the spot,” the officer said.
“While in jail, Sharma came in contact with a history-sheeter Vinod alias Sanyasi. Thereafter, he started working in his gang and was involved in two criminal cases of extortion and attempt to murder. While on the run, he was changing his appearance and changing his hideouts in different areas of Haryana and worked as an electrician,” the officer said.
