Delhi policeman killed in road accident
New Delhi (IANS). A Delhi Police inspector posted in the security wing died after being hit by a truck on Rohtak Road in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh on Sunday.
A senior police officer said that in the early hours of Sunday, an accident took place on Rohtak Road (near Madipur metro station) in which a car was hit from behind by a truck.
“The car was stopped due to some mechanical problem when it was hit from behind by the truck. The driver of the car standing outside was also hit. He suffered serious injuries and died,” the officer said.
The deceased has been identified as Inspector Jagbir Singh of Delhi Police, who was currently posted in the security unit.
“The truck driver abandoned the truck and fled from the spot. Legal action is being taken and efforts are on to trace the driver,” the officer said.
The inspection of the matter is going on.
