Delhi The foundation stone of a flood monitoring center was laid in Shastri Nagar.

Delhi’s Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Parvesh Verma on Monday laid the foundation stone for a flood control monitoring centre at the LM Bund office complex in Shastri Nagar, Delhi, to strengthen the city’s preparedness ahead of the monsoon season.

The project, being developed by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Delhi, will involve the construction of a dedicated building that will function as the department’s central flood monitoring facility. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 355.72 lakh and is scheduled to be completed by June 15 before the peak monsoon period.

According to officials, the ground floor of the building will house the main flood control room where officials will monitor river water levels, review field reports and coordinate emergency responses during the monsoon season.

The first floor will include a conference and coordination hall with a seating capacity of around 50 persons, allowing engineers, officials and field teams to conduct review meetings and operational briefings during emergencies.

Speaking at the event, Verma said the Delhi Government was focusing on strengthening institutional infrastructure so departments can respond faster and more effectively during emergencies.
