Department asked for tender on James portal, will help in snowfall

Shimla. PWD has started the process of disposing of 15 year old machinery. With the budget of Rs 30 crore received from the government, the department is preparing to buy new JCB and other small vehicles in their place. At present, 264 vehicles in PWD have completed the prescribed period of 15 years and now preparations are underway to purchase new vehicles in place of these vehicles. PWD will add this machinery to its fleet before snowfall. In lieu of this, the use of old machines will be stopped.

The department will distribute the new machines in different zones and circles of the state. The department is purchasing machinery through GeM portal. In this sequence, PWD has given orders to replace 264 JCB and tipper and Bolero vehicles. These are being removed under the changes in the Motor Vehicle Act. PWD has decided to purchase new vehicles through the web portal and has called tenders on this basis. The companies providing vehicles to the department will start delivery immediately after receiving the online tender.

Will the department need additional machinery during snowfall? Keeping this in view the department is making preparations. Recently, during the review meeting held under the chairmanship of PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, the decision to purchase new machinery was also taken. While Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had provided a budget of Rs 30 crore for the department. PWD Chief Engineer Ajay Gupta said that preparations have been made to purchase machinery before the snowfall. Due to this, the department has started the tender process online. This purchase is being made from Gem portal. The department will purchase machinery for Rs 30 crore. These machines will help the department in removing snow in winter. If needed, the department will also use JCBs of private contractors for snow removal. The same efforts that the management department had made to deal with the rains will now be made again during snowfall.
