Deputy CM Shivkumar said this regarding guard change issue

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who said he is going along with the Congress high command’s decision on any change in the chief ministerial post, on Saturday said he does not need the help of his supporters to recommend his case. This comes at a time when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s supporters, including ministers KN Rajanna and Zameer Ahmed Khan, are pushing for their leader to complete the full five-year term as CM.

Shivakumar warned his supporter and Ramnagar MLA HA Iqbal Hussain against issuing any statement as Iqbal had recently said that the Deputy Chief Minister will take over as CM within the five-year tenure of the Congress government.

Siddaramaiah held a breakfast meeting with his 15 cabinet colleagues, after which Shivakumar said he was in no hurry to get the top post. “The party went to the elections under the leadership of Siddaramaiah and me and people blessed us. Our aim is to provide good governance. I am in no hurry. Our high command will take a decision and we have informed our party leaders about what happened in the meeting,” he said.

“The media distorted Siddaramaiah’s statement (reportedly saying he would remain CM for five years). He is our leader and we accept his leadership. We will listen to the party,” he said. Interestingly, he had predicted that he would come clean in the disproportionate assets (DA) case being investigated against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

“A case has been registered against me even though I have done nothing wrong. All my records are public. Both I and my wife are tax payers. Despite being husband and wife, our accounts are separate. You can calculate whether I have accumulated disproportionate wealth,” he said while responding to a journalist’s question.

Although the then Advocate General felt that it was not a suitable case to hand over to the CBI, the BS Yediyurappa-led BJP government went ahead and did so. He said, “Let them (CBI) issue a notice and I will respond to it. The time will come when they will file the B report (cancelling the previous report),” he said.
