Despite having ten councilors, BJP lost the mayor’s chair
Hospice. There has been a big upheaval in the elections of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Municipal Corporation Dharamshala. Despite having ten councilors, BJP lost the mayor’s chair and with the votes of seven councilors and one MLA, Congress succeeded in making the mayor. The election of Deputy Mayor was also surprising. Tejendra Kaur of BJP, who became the Deputy Mayor, got ten votes, but Anurag of Congress got only eight votes.
Despite BJP having ten councilors, Congress has won by an upset. Congress-backed Neenu was elected mayor, while BJP-backed Tajindra Kaur was elected deputy mayor.
In the election, candidates of both the parties got 9-9 votes for mayor. After this, the election of mayor was decided through toss, in which Neenu Sharma of Congress was elected mayor. BJP councilor reached the Municipal Corporation office along with former minister Vipin Parmar, BJP General Secretary Trilok Kapoor and Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal.
Congress councilor reached Dharamshala along with Tourism Corporation Chairman RS Bali and MLA Sudhir Sharma. MLA Sudhir Sharma cast his vote in the elections of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Municipal Corporation Dharamshala. Although there were speculations as to whether the MLAs would vote or not, they voted in the afternoon.
