Devendra Mahto, a leader of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM), has been on a hunger strike for the past 11 days to protest against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. His health deteriorated due to the prolonged fast, leading to his admission to Sadar Hospital in Ranchi. He has decided to continue his agitation even while undergoing treatment.
According to reports, Devendra Mahto wrote a letter to the Civil Surgeon of Ranchi on Wednesday night seeking permission to continue his hunger strike while receiving medical treatment at the hospital. He maintains that he wishes to persist with his protest regarding the alleged irregularities in recruitment exams and issues concerning the youth.
Devendra Mahto was admitted to the hospital on Monday. It is reported that his health suddenly worsened after he participated in a march by protesting students towards the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Following medical advice, he was taken to Sadar Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
For several days, the JLKM leader has been agitating over issues related to alleged irregularities in state recruitment exams, transparency, and the rights of the youth. He asserts that fairness must be ensured in competitive examinations so that hardworking candidates receive justice.
