Dharmendra Pradhan criticizes BJD government regarding Sambalpur market project
Sambalpur: Union minister and BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Sambalpur, Dharmendra Pradhan launched another attack on the BJD government over its failure to develop one of Odisha’s most ambitious projects, the Sambalpur Terminal Market Complex, the foundation stone of which was laid by the Chief Minister. Minister Naveen Patnaik in September, 2014.
During his campaign in Jujumura on Thursday, the Union Minister visited the proposed project site at Niladunguri in the block and was surprised to find that the foundation stone was missing from the ground.
Addressing the people gathered at the spot, Pradhan said, “A terminal market complex was proposed at Neeladunguri with a system for marketing and processing of horticulture produce at a cost of Rs 74 crore.
The project which was to be developed by the state government in conjunction with the National Horticulture Mission, is expected to benefit vegetable and flower farmers from 10 districts of western Odisha including Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi. Could have done.
Its foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister in the presence of the then Agriculture Minister Late Pradeep Maharathi, MP Nagendra Kumar Pradhan and local MLAs. Meanwhile, 10 years passed but there was no progress in the project. What’s more, the foundation stone has also gone missing.
In January 2024, farmers had complained about this in the complaint cell but to no avail. “Is this transparent governance of Odisha government?” He asked question.
Pradhan further said, “A person from the Chief Minister Grievance Cell also visited the site but no action was taken on the issue. The Chief Minister has deliberately cheated the farmers. They have cheated the farmers of entire western Odisha including Sambalpur.”
