Direct flight service between Rourkela and Kolkata soon

Bhubaneswar: Direct flight service between Rourkela and Kolkata will start soon. The Odisha government has reportedly provided Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to start flight services between the two destinations. With the start of direct flight service, passengers can reach Kolkata from Rourkela in 1 hour 30 minutes. Alliance Air will operate flight services three days a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The initial flight ticket fare between Rourkela and Kolkata will be Rs 1999. The new fight service is expected to give a massive boost to the industry and tourism sector of Sundargarh district.

The point to be noted here is that flight services have started between Rourkela and Bhubaneswar even before the Men’s World Cup Hockey this year. Rourkela-Kolkata flight service via Bhubaneswar started in November. However, now people fly directly between Rourkela and Kolkata. With the announcement of Rourkela-Kolkata direct flight, a change in the timing of Bhubaneswar-Rourkela flights is expected.
