Dispute over Panchayat elections, case registered
Bilaspur. Two people clashed with each other during the Gram Sabha over the rivalry over the defeat during the Panchayat elections. Both sides have complained of assault against each other. The police have registered a crime on this and are investigating the matter. Gyanesh Shandil, who lives in Durgdih of Bilha area, told that his wife Bhagwati Shandil and the wife of Raju Sonwani of the village had contested the election of Sarpanch. In this, another candidate Roopwati Burman won the election. Raju Sonwani was harboring a grudge against Gyanesh as the reason for his election defeat. Gram Sabha was held in the Panchayat Bhawan on Tuesday.
Village people and Panchayat officials had attended this. Raju and Gyanesh also went to the Gram Sabha. It was during the Gram Sabha that Raju abused Gyanesh. After this, when he left the Panchayat building, he snatched Gyanesh’s mobile and broke it. Meanwhile, Raju told in his complaint that during the Gram Sabha on Tuesday, he asked for information about six months’ income and expenditure from the Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary. Angered by his questioning, Gyanesh started abusing. He beat up Raju when he came out of the Panchayat building. The people present at the spot somehow intervened. On the complaint of both the parties, the police have registered a crime and taken the matter under investigation.
