DMK forms committee to negotiate seat-sharing with alliance parties

Tamil Nadu: DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan has announced the formation of a six-member committee to negotiate with alliance parties on seat-sharing.

The terms of the West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry assemblies are scheduled to expire on May 7, May 10, May 20, May 23, and June 15, respectively. Accordingly, the Election Commission has accelerated the process of holding assembly elections in these states.

The final voter list in Tamil Nadu is scheduled to be published on the 23rd.

A team from the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from February 25 to 27 to review preparations for the assembly elections. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the elections are likely to be held in April.

In such a situation, DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan has announced the formation of a six-member committee to negotiate with the alliance parties on seat-sharing. In a statement issued in this regard, he said that a six-member committee has been formed to negotiate with the alliance parties on seat-sharing in view of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The committee is headed by DMK Treasurer T.R. Baalu ​​and includes ministers K.N. Nehru, E.V. Velu, M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Lok Sabha member A. Raja and DMK Organizing Secretary R.S. Bharathi.
