Shri Ganesha became extremely angry at this and cursed Mother Tulsi and said, ‘You will be married to a demon’. Let us tell you that Tulsi is not used in the worship of Lord Ganesha for this reason.
Let us tell you that Lord Ganesha wanted to remain celibate because he was angry with his body. His face looked like that of an elephant. He felt that no one wanted to marry him. That’s why Lord Ganesha wanted to remain celibate. Angered Ganesh ji used to create obstacles wherever the marriage took place, so that the marriage could not take place. He felt that if he was not able to get married then he would not allow anyone else to get married.
Because of this the Gods and Goddesses were very upset. They all went to Brahmaji with their problems. Then Brahmaji manifested two girls with his powers. The names of two girls are Riddhi and Siddhi. He sent Riddhi and Siddhi to Lord Ganesha to gain knowledge. Then after some time both of them got married to Lord Ganesha.
But apart from this, Lord Ganesha also has three more wives named Tushti, Pushti and Shri. Therefore it is believed that Lord Ganesha has five wives.
Who are the sons and grandsons of Lord Ganesha?
