Premalatha Vijayakanth attacks the Tamil Nadu government, says it does not do what it says.
Cuddalore: DMDK General Secretary and Virudhachalam MLA Premalatha Vijayakanth has targeted the Tamil Nadu government, alleging that it is failing to fulfill its promises. She stated that there is a significant gap between the state government’s announcements and the work actually being done on the ground; instead of resolving public issues, only assurances are being offered.
Premalatha Vijayakanth made these remarks on Saturday after attending various events in the Virudhachalam block of Cuddalore district. She first inspected the Direct Paddy Procurement Center at Sathukudal. During the visit, she interacted with farmers to hear their grievances and assessed the status of the paddy procurement process.
During the inspection, farmers raised several issues with Premalatha Vijayakanth. They specifically demanded arrangements for the safe storage of paddy, noting that paddy kept in open areas is at risk of getting wet during the rainy season. This leads to financial losses for farmers and renders their hard work futile.
The farmers demanded the construction of a permanent storage warehouse in the area to protect the paddy from rain and inclement weather. They stated that if proper storage facilities were available, they could safeguard their produce and would not be compelled to sell their paddy hastily at low prices.
Premalatha Vijayakanth listened to the farmers’ concerns seriously and acknowledged that their demands were legitimate. She alleged that while the government speaks of farmers’ interests, it has failed to provide necessary facilities on the ground. She emphasized that farmers need concrete schemes and facilities, not merely announcements.
She stated that the agricultural sector is a vital pillar of the state’s economy and that farmers’ issues should not be ignored. Better arrangements at procurement centers, adequate storage facilities, and timely payments are the rights of the farmers.
After inspecting the paddy procurement center, Premalatha Vijayakanth met with residents of the Thiruvalluvar area. A large number of locals arrived to share their problems and grievances with her. She accepted petitions from the public and listened to their grievances. People raised various issues concerning roads, drinking water, government amenities, and local development.
Premalatha Vijayakanth assured the people that their concerns would be conveyed to the concerned officials and that necessary steps would be taken to resolve them. She stated that, as a public representative, it was her duty to forcefully voice the public’s concerns and continuously strive to find solutions to their problems.
Subsequently, she visited a school for the hearing-impaired in Konankuppam. There, she met the students and inquired about their education and the facilities available to them. She spent time with the children and encouraged them.
During the school visit, Premalatha Vijayakanth also distributed food to the students. She remarked that providing quality education and facilities to children with special needs is a societal responsibility. Such institutions should receive support from both the government and society so that the children can become self-reliant and build a better future.
She also interacted with the school management and gathered information about the available facilities. Appreciating the children’s talent and hard work, she noted that given the right opportunities, these students could make significant contributions to society.
According to political observers, this visit by Premalatha Vijayakanth is also viewed as an effort to boost the party’s activity in the region. In a single day, she sought to strengthen her grasp of local issues by addressing concerns related to farmers, the general public, and students.
Premalatha Vijayakanth urged the state government to pay attention to the genuine problems faced by the public rather than limiting itself to mere announcements. She stated that the government must take effective measures in the interest of farmers, the poor, and the needy.
Overall, during her tour of the constituency, DMDK leader Premalatha Vijayakanth highlighted issues faced by farmers, public grievances, and the needs of children with special needs. Accusing the Tamil Nadu government of failing to fulfill its promises, she asserted that the public now seeks tangible action rather than just assurances.
