Earthquake hits northern Afghan city

Kabul. An earthquake struck the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, the provincial capital of Balkh province in northern Afghanistan, and surrounding areas on Sunday, with no casualties reported, locals said. “A relatively strong earthquake hit the city of Mazar-i-Sharif at 03:52 pm local time, but no casualties or damage has been reported so far,” Balkh provincial police said in a statement released after the earthquake, Xinhua news agency reported.
