Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have started raids early today at several places, including the residence of West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Malik, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the alleged ration distribution scam worth several crores of rupees.
Regarding the raid at the house of Jyotipriya, a minister in the Mamata government, the official said that the Enforcement Directorate, with the help of a team of central forces, raided two flats of State Forest Minister Malik located in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area. He said that eight other flats including the house of Malik’s former personal assistant were also raided. The Enforcement Directorate official said, “The minister was not there during the raid. He came later and his phone had been taken. Eight officers are present inside the flat. We are also conducting searches at the Dumdum residence of his former personal assistant and some other places.” The official said the central probe agency has already arrested a person who has alleged links with the ruling Trinamool Congress and Malik.
