Education department served notice to 9 schools
Rajkot. The District Education Officer in Rajkot, Gujarat has served notice to nine local schools for conducting classes on October 31, a public holiday on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The matter came to light when the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, protested against these schools on Tuesday when the institutions remained operational even on public holidays. Following the demonstration, the schools concerned were immediately closed for the day.
The schools that have received notices include premier institutions like Modi School, SNK School, Utkarsh School, Podar School and KG Dholakia School. The DEO has sought clarification from these educational establishments regarding their decision to hold classes. Response from the respective schools is awaited.
