Eight killed in collision between pickup van and auto-rickshaw in Pune
Pune: In a tragic incident, four people died when a truck and a rickshaw collided on the Kalyan Nashik Highway in Pune district on Sunday night.
“Eight people died in a traffic accident on the Kalyan Nashik Highway near Otur village in Junnar taluka of Pune district,” a senior Pune Rural Police official said.
The incident occurred recently after a collision between a truck and a rickshaw carrying passengers on the road.
The official also said that three passengers traveling in the autorickshaw died, while five people traveling in the van also died on the spot. The Police is investigating.
Four people were killed and several others injured when a truck hit them near a farm, police said on Monday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Iraj Raja said that some people traveling in a van from Madhya Pradesh were hit by a truck near Katehari village on Sunday night, killing four people, including two minors.
The police officer said that the deceased have been identified as Anirudh (2), Priyanka (28), Nancy (16) and Munni Devi (50). He said that the victims have been taken to the hospital.
“The truck is being identified and its driver will be arrested soon,” the SP said.
