Elderly disabled voters did home voting

Rajnandgaon. As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a new initiative has been taken for home voting for the assembly elections from the elderly and disabled people aged 80 years and above. In the festival of democracy, the polling team reached the homes of elderly and disabled people marked for home voting through postal ballot and got them voting. Voting was conducted door-to-door for the identified elderly people above 80 years of age and disabled people of Dongargaon assembly constituency. As soon as the polling team reached the house, smiles appeared on the faces of the family members and voters. Under the guidance of Collector and District Election Officer Doman Singh, senior citizens of 80 years of age and above and 40 percent or more disabled persons from all the identified assembly constituencies of the district are voting at home. Disabled Ahilya Verma, a resident of Khairi in Dongargaon assembly, said that earlier her elder brother used to take her to vote. Ahilya told that it felt very good to have the polling team coming to the house. Due to which one got the opportunity to be a part of democracy without any inconvenience. Ahilya thanked the Election Commission of India for this unique initiative.

Smt. Hemlata Sahu, resident of Dhaurabhatha, expressed happiness when the polling team reached her house to conduct home voting. Mrs. Hemlata told that she cannot walk with both her legs. Earlier, to cast the vote, they were taken to the polling station by the family members. With this initiative of the Election Commission of India, I feel very good by voting at home. When the polling team reached the house of 84-year-old Geeta Bai, resident of village Gidhwa Tappa, for home voting, she expressed happiness. Mrs. Geeta Bai said that voting at home was very convenient and a pleasant experience. Latabai, resident of village Badbhum, voted at home. Latabai told that she is handicapped in both legs. Having this facility made it easier to vote. Parna resident Mrs. Lakshmi Bai also voted at home. Mrs. Lakshmi Bai said that due to being elderly, there used to be a lot of problem in standing in line, now it feels very good to vote at home through the polling team. 81 year old Mrs. Pukbati, resident of Kesla, 89 year old Jhaduram and disabled Sakunbai Yadav of Pendarwani and disabled Makhan Yadav, resident of village Medha, said that home voting is a good and sensitive initiative. 18 year old Tukeshwar Kanwar of Pinkapar is disabled since birth. Tukeshwar has voted for the first time.
