Election Commission sent notice to Karnataka government
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Monday issued a notice to the Congress government of Karnataka. He was seeking responses to newspaper advertisements touting his achievements during the Telangana Assembly elections. In this regard, a letter has also been written by the Election Commission (EC) to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka. In this, the Commission said that the state government did not take prior permission to publish the advertisement, which is a violation of the Election Code of Conduct (MCC).
The Election Commission has clearly said that the Karnataka government should immediately stop publishing such advertisements in Telangana. This ban will remain in force until the state government gets approval from the commission. The Election Commission has sought a reply from the Congress government of Karnataka on this issue by 5 pm on Tuesday. The Commission also inquired about the circumstances that led to the violation of the Model Code directions. Detailed information was sought on this matter.
Why can’t disciplinary action be taken against the Secretary in-charge of the Information and Public Relations Department? In its letter, the Commission also sought a reply from the Congress government on this issue. This indicates that there has been a violation of the required procedure specified by the MCC. Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party had filed a complaint in this regard with the Commission and alleged that the Congress had violated the Representation of the People Act and the Model Code of Conduct. It is being told that voting for Telangana Assembly elections will be held on November 30.
