Election Commission will disclose details on electoral bonds in time: CEC Rajeev Kumar
Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said here on Wednesday that the Election Commission has received details from State Bank of India (SBI) related to the electoral bonds and all relevant information will be shared in time.
The statement comes in the wake of the Supreme Court directing SBI to submit details of electoral bonds purchased since April 12, 2019, to the Election Commission.
SBI is the authorized financial institution to issue electoral bonds.
“SBI was supposed to submit the data by March 12. They have given us the details on time. I will go back and look at the data (and) will definitely disclose it on time,” Kumar told reporters here.
Kumar arrived here on Wednesday to review the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The CEC said, “We are gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. We will ensure free and fair elections across the country. We request voters across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, to enthusiastically participate in the ‘Festival of Democracy’. “
He said social media cells would be set up in all districts to provide real-time response to fake news.
“Adequate security will be provided to all candidates and central forces will be deployed,” he said.
Kumar said online cash transfers through wallets will be strictly monitored in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that people above 85 years of age and people with disabilities will be provided the facility to vote at home in Jammu and Kashmir.
