Election Commission will soon hold a meeting in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: With Lok Sabha elections just a few months away, the Election Commission of India will visit Uttar Pradesh and hold a meeting with district officials on January 30 to review the preparations. Earlier, the Election Commission of India on Thursday held a two-day conference with Chief Electoral Officers of all states and Union Territories to review the preparations for the elections.

Preparations for the next general elections to be held this year were discussed at the conference that began on Thursday at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi.

The full Commission led by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), senior officials of the EC Headquarters and CEOs participated in the meeting.
“The two-day conference of Chief Electoral Officers of all States/UTs began in New Delhi. Preparations for General Elections 2024 are being reviewed in the meeting held at IIIDEM. In the 2019 general elections, the BJP created history by winning a record 303 seats out of 542, while the Congress could win only 52 seats. Narendra Modi is the first non-Congress Prime Minister to be re-elected, doing so with a strong majority.
With only six months left for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, political parties have already started campaign plans to reach out to voters.

Amid talks between India’s partners to reach a seat-sharing deal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP national president JP Nadda arrived in Guwahati on Tuesday to chair key party meetings in the state.
However, seat-sharing for the Lok Sabha elections remains a major point of contention for members of the India Bloc.

The allocation of seats for the general elections is especially important for the Congress after its massive defeat in the assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
